In this 6-week introductory course, students will learn the fundamentals of hand building. Through guided demonstrations and hands-on practice, you’ll explore techniques like coiling, slab building, and pinching to create functional and sculptural ceramic forms. This class is ideal for beginners or anyone looking to build a strong foundation in working with clay by hand.
Students will have time each week to practice, experiment, and refine their work with individualized guidance and feedback. You’ll leave with a collection of finished pieces and a deeper understanding of core hand-building techniques.
Clay, glaze, and unlimited open studio time (10am–8pm, 7 days a week) are included while the class is in session. Firing fees are additional at $0.06 per cubic inch per piece. A beginner tool kit is included with this course.
